i have 2 peppered corys that spawned about may i think but they havent spawned since is there any ways to encorage them. i know i need to get more and i will soon.

more water changes using a bit cooler water than tank temp..plenty of live food ..always works for mine xx kaz x

they have had alot of live food and i do weekly water changes but thinking about it my tank temp might be a little high my heaters set at 25c but its been up at 28-29c reasntly.

my corys tank doesnt go over 25 ...

way too high 28 29 your lucky there not darting about or worse ...when my heater bust took tank high they wernt happy ..stick at 24/25

more than likely imo ........as cooler water tricks them into thinking its breeding time ..maybe you could do some more water changes with lower temp water ..that way it'll drop your tank temp ...and should get corys breeding ..

hopefully after a few regular cooler water changes and offering a bit more live food froz blood worm etc so it sinks for them ....they will be spawning in no time ...

reason being they are tricked into thinking their having dry and rainy seasons like in the wild...dry season or drought means less food ..then comes the rainy season with

the floods bringing plenty of food ...by mimicking this we can bring the seasons to their tanks and hopefully coax the corys into breeding..

after you have feed them well on live foods for 1- 2weeks you will notice your filter slowing and water not mooving as much ..so much for filter to do i guess ..reduce the

amount of food for the next week (dont clean filter) but do a water change i do about 30 - 40%..

then you should have your eggs..

ive got eggs all over the place again in my 64litre ...as well as babies in my qt... prev spawns i can remember are 2nd june .14th july....had 120 eggs spawned from 1

female 1 male on 29/july.. had a small spawn start of august only 4 eggs ... again 2 days later few eggs ...then few days ago tons of eggs ..

most people say every 3weeks spawn .. mine seem to think different to that ....suppose it depends on food n water temp/changes ...

good luck xx are you gonna remove eggs once spawned to give them a better chance or keep in tank ??????

kaz xx

Hi kizno1 :)

Don't rule out the possibility that they are spawning when you do not see it and either hiding or eating the eggs. C. paleatus seem more likely to eat them than many of the other species.

the female has been quite big since the last time and i havent noticed her getting smaller

Hi kizno1 :)

The female C. paleatus is usually considerably larger than the male. While it's sometimes possible to tell when a female has eggs just by looking, it's not always the case. In any event, you don't have to worry about her. If she needs to get rid of the eggs, she will spawn them even if there is no male present.
