Corrys Darting Around The Tank?

sorry to hi jack but my 2 new(ish) cory both dart to the surface, more often than any others..i have 5 n total...2 of them are peppered and one is a cory that is most likely a different species, just wondering do you think that some corys do dart to the surface more than other species? or do you think the 2 new corys are....ill possibly?? they both feed n swim around but they also hide alot more than the other 3...... i dont think i have an oxygenating problem all other fish never go to the surface and i never see the other cories darting for air....

I wouldn't think it depends on species but how much they hide sometimes depends on species. Some are more outgoing than others and it's normal. The question is how often do they go to the surface and it would be more likely all of them gasping rather than just a couple, if it were a problem. It's not an indication that they are sick exactly. Corys are hardy fish. New corys behave like nut jobs for maybe a few days to a couple of weeks after being added to a new tank and dance around the walls, so they'll go to the surface too more often in that case. I changed the substrate recently in one of my tanks to sand and redecorated a bit and the corys thought they are in a new tank and were flying around for quite a while, but it's normal.

The Eheim 2236 is 700L/H or 185 G/H. How many litres is your tank as this doesn't seem enough at all by looking at the size of it?

My fish tank is 200L

For a planted tank you need to aim at at least 2000L/H with that volume, combined with powerheads. You already have 700L/H, so add it up eventually by means of another filter and powerhead or two powerheads if you think the filter is enough to do the biological and mechanical filtration. Personally I would get another filter and afterwards, depending on how it goes, maybe a small powerhead.
