My albino cories fart all the time. Anyone noticed theirs doing the same? Or is it just me?

Teehee, they do that. :) It's because they can absorb oxygen from air. Sometimes they blow bubbles from their mouths, and sometimes it's from behind.

Hi Chibi

Notice you live in Baltimore, any good fish shop out there beside Aquarium Center?

Well I was thinking its just gas and they get windy like all of us?

Oh and pm any questions you have that are nothing to do with the thread you reply in.

lol   , im must tell my daughter, she has 6 cories, although ive not seen them fart i will now be on tank watch. all the best donna x :)

 I must admit, I have seen my corie do this. My bronze cories were more prone to passing wind than my others. But one of my Sterbai is famous for it too.

LOL! I thought I was seeing things when my biggest Panda let rip some bubbles. I could have sworn it was a fart but my hubby didn't believe me. I wonder if it pongs in the tank and all the other fish swim away from it!

Hehe, yeah good way to clear the room. I know that Salmon fart to communicate.

I still think it's funny to see them do that! :D

This happens because they sometimes gulp air from the surface of the tank. Unlike bettas for example, they don't have labyrinths, but absorb the oxygen when it passes through their intestines. Then the air has to pass out of them. The results are fish farts.

well i gotta say that i have never noiced this before..... until i read this post LMAO!!

the new 4ft cory tank all i can now see if little fart bubbles !! BUT i have a minor theroy. could it actually have something to do with water pressure. I never once saw it when they were in the 30 x 12 x 12 tank. Now they are in the 48x18x12 tank i see it all the time.

Theres something to think about :)

I doubt its them "farting" its more than likely the atmospheric air that they swallow coming outta there gills.

well if my corys have moved their gills to their anus your correct LOL. the bubbles are definalty coming from the *AHEM* rear end of the fish. Either way,its amusing to watch !
