Right...
I am going to have to do something about my air pump pronto.
I have only a 27 Uk litre tank.. im pretty certain after all this time that the current is WAY too strong.

The air pump is just a bog standard out side air pump with a air stone Tetra TEC
There isnt anything that i can turn it down with

There is nothing else in the tank that could of ripped it that far down.. its SO upsetting to see. the fish himself is acting like nothigns wrong...
Im not going to switch the air pump on now until i get down to my LFS
what can i do?
getting a new tank isnt an option because its fairly new itself (4 monthsish)
and i dont want to move all of the things and waste a tank.

Is there anything i can do about the high current?!?!
The split definately wasnt there this morning i always monitor my fish.

could you angle the output towards the side of the tank? so it flows against the glass?
Thats the only thing I know of that you can do to slow the current if you cant physically turn it down.

But an expert will probably come along and say something different.

Could try putting the pump in a pair of tights that should knock the flow down.

I tried that with the filter ages ago.. because at the very start i thought the filter was sucking in my fish but i was wrong!

Will a new air stone work or something?
A smaller one?

I dont understand :S

Post this in the d.i.y. section as not sure about outside pumps.
I would switch the airstone off if the flow on the pump is to strong.

It cant be switched off its attached to the air line
I mean outside pump as in not situated inside the tank

If this helps???

Copy and paste your thread and post in tropical discussion more members go over there.
Could put some netting with a rubbing band over the flow area to see if that slows the flow down.
Don't pumps have flow settings on them.

Mine doesnt :S
Its a tetra tec air pump

the bubbles are pretty strong

would a different/ shape / size of air stone help

Yes, I was going to suggest you buy a valve - I have these on all my air pumps. You simply cut the plastic tubing that runs from the pump with the air stone on the end - cut it and put the valve into each end of the tubing, then there is a little twiddly knob on the top of the valve with which you can set the air flow rate. My air pumps came with these valves in the box - little black plastic thing usually - some people throw them away not realising what they are for. If you still have your box, check inside, you may find one!
