hi im new to fish and i have a preg congo tetra can anyone tell me how long do they carry their eggs for? she,s been acting shy and hiding can you help thanks

This is usually done early the morning after courtship. The eggs will hatch in six days and they must be fed with brine shrimp nauplii, rotifers or finely crushed flake food. Just be prepared they can lay up to 300 eggs.

Good Luck!

[/quote ok great thankyou. :good:

Really its up to the male, once he gets interested he will chase the famale around the tank. Once he gets her into poistion he will warp his anal fin around her belly and she will scatter a bunch of eggs around the area. So if you want the fry to survive you'll have to catch the eggs as they are falling or take out the parents.

Are you sure she's pregnant and not just bloated?
Does the fish still eat or is it just fat and hiding in the plants and not swimming around with the others?
