Yes on the Bristlenose, Gouramis like the closley related siamese fighting fish will kill eachother if there is 2 males in the tank, and i don't think you can sex them, so probably not. (that goes for all gourami species, so if you have a 3 spot male and a pearl male, they will fight to the death once mature)

Also make the Gourami the last thing you add because if they claim the tank when you first add them, they become persistent bullys.

its fine i know how to sex pearls, the male has a red neck and the female is normal

its very distinct. whenever im working i always point out which fish is male and which is female, im always right!!

ah cool, i have no clue about sexing anything that is not a cichlid :p male and a female will be fine, just add them last :)

ok thanx! angels are soo cool and fms have settled in. there is a shoal of 6 angels and 2 occasionally straying fms

ok, thanks, so can i still get a brisstlenose pleco??? and can i get two gouramis??? those are two unanswered questions just decided to repost
I'd honestly only keep one gourami, they tend to not get along. I don't know about pearls, but your tank with all the angels and FM's and tetras is gonna be pretty packed as it is.

You can aim for some bottom feeders. the pleco would be good. You could also aim for a big shoal of 8-12 corydoras, or 2-3 raphael catfish, or 2-3 pictus catfish. Might be other options out there, but those are the ones I'm most used to seeing.

Don't aim for any monster catfish like red tailed cats, silver sharks, or the like. Make sure you go online and look up the max size of the catfish before you buy it. Some of them get gigantic, but the pet stores tend to not tell you that.

I'd honestly aim for the raphaels or the pictus, but raphael catfish tend to be very hidey. Some people go months without seeing theirs, and I only see mine in the early morning or at night with the moon lights on.

If you do go for corys, you might have to do a bit more changing of water, since you'll have a pretty large amount of fish in there.

I think i wont get any other fish cuz now that the firemouths are in a better tank the pair is getting aggresive again. Im also hoping to breed angels so yes i will stick to what i have (and get a red robin gourami instead)then give angels a shot.

My two larger angels did a breeding ritual, I'm not sure if I'm just hoping too much but they have been straying from the shoal and swimming toGether I just wonder if I breed the firemouths and the angels at the same time, whAt will happen. I only have one growout tank so I would have to use the blue rams tank. Oh weLl let's just hope they breed at different times

Are they even paired, your firemouths?

I wouldn't be surprised if you got an angelfish pair after buying so many of them. I'm not sure how that's gonna work out, but I'd be more worried about the angelfish pair getting aggressive with the other angels, not the angels and firemouths breeding at the same time.

I'm no breeder, though. I'd have no idea what to do with the fry. I keep singles and singles only

Yep, those are the ones I'm familiar with. Never tolerate new fish, or others of their species, and sometimes they don't tolerate even tank mates that were there first! My first three spot I bought when it was about 4 inches long, and it just obliterated everything. It was worse than my convict

Apparently there is a 96.6% chance of getting a pair in six. my firemouths paired off and nearly bred bet then decided they hated each other. Now I move them to the biGger tank they swim everywere with each other and are constntly fighting other fish, and since when do rainbow sharks swim midwater

My aunts red tail shark swam midwater pretty consistantly.

It's possible that the firemouths aren't paired. You said before that you separated them for a long while and when you put it back they weren't fighting, right? That's pretty normal. The firemouth that you introduced back in with the other was no longer "in control" so to speak, the tank wasn't his territory, none of it was. The other firemouth, however, had total dominance in regards to the tank. When my firemouth sees new tank mates, he doesn't fight them or bite or anything, but he does let them know hes in charge with a lot of digging and flaring. However, if the new firemouth tries to take something, that can cause aggression.

Can you send me a picture of your two and tell me which you think is male and which you think is female? I'm tryig to take a guess on the gender of my own, but it's only like.. I'd say 2 inches at best?

i probably can but not right now, I cant find an sd card. the angels dont have the right breeding enviroment so i will wait for the firemouth then set up for angels. i will need to get another growout tank aswell. the firemouths were reunited a while ago, at first they fighted like you have never seen, i thought one was gonna die, then they start rubbing fins. crazy fish
