I have two small angels, small enough to very comfortably fit in my 20 gallon, they also have two platy tank mates and a chinese algae eater. Would it be alright if i got a small opaline or golden gourami? I've heard goldens are semi aggressive is that true? Should I just wait to upgrade to a bigger tank before I put more fish in? Last time i put three more platys in and one of my angels freaked out and clamped up its fins. nevertheless, it found a new home the next day.

The only gourami I would avoid are the blue gouramis because I have seen them get pretty aggressive. But most others should do fine with angelfish. I would definately go for the opaline/lace gourami; very pretty and peaceful.

They demanded a little different water. If you have neutral water you should do fine concidering angels like acidic to neutral water where are gouramis like neutral to alkaline water. I think they would do fine together, just make sure the gouramis aren't small enough to get eaten or beat up bad.

I'm glad someone asked this question because I plan to have a couple of Angels with my current stocklist (in my signature). Will Angels be okay with the 3-spot variety of Gouramis? :)
