but you could say that kribs live near the bottom of a tank where there cave would be

and plus i have shoals of middle dweling fish

jacks fish in his tank are quite large and wouldnt be bullied. plus a tank of that size the kribs would have plenty of territory so they wont feel so compacted into a small space

yh i no, just wondered, as i love kribs

What do u have in ur community tank?

and the soze of ur tank?

Sorry, I forgot to give all the details. :/

My tank is 200L, my PH is 7ish. I have 8 Zebra Danios, 2 3-spot Gouramis and 2 Bristlenose Catfish.

anyway JackoUK, I would suggest a blue acara but u have danios, ermm ill have 2 think what else.

Herotilapia multispinosa - aka Rainbow Cichlid ;)

Mine gets on well with all tetras, platies, danios, loaches, and the larger residents. Not an aggressive bone in his body, and great fun to watch - much more outgoing than our rams ;)

I have two Bolivian Rams in my community tank. I was hoping to get a pair, but I could't tell what they were when they were babies. Turns out they're both males. They each own half of the tank, when one goes past a certain line the other chases him out and vice versa. The worst they do is at feeding time they butt lips with each other and push. Nothing serious though, and they are so entertaining to watch. They are my favorite fish now and look and act so differently than all the assortment of fish I have in the tank, sort of like cartoon characters. I think the German/Blue Ram is a bit perttier but I chose the Bolivian because they are hardier and easier to keep. Check them out!

Keyhole cichlids might work. Kribensis are very hit or miss.. in that some will be extremely aggressive, and some will be very calm... so it's tough to say either way that kribs will or wont work.

Your best bet if you want kribensis would be to get the smallest ones you can.

nannacara anomala.........aka Golden Eye cichlid

No way! blue acara are way too agressive. My jewvy blue acara killed about everything I had and my angel didn't have a chance with him so I had to take the acara back.

Thanks for the all the advice guys. Lots and lots of information for me to look at there. I think i'll probably stay clear of Kribs for now until i've got a little more experience. I'll look into all the other varieties you lot suggested but I think I may plump for a pair of Bolivian Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if I change my mind though. :)

a pair of rams should work, 2 males would fight though

I finally went for a pair of Rams. They seem to be doing fine. I was worried at the beginning because they went a dark colour when they were stressed but they've gone pack to their normal colour now. I've fed them some Brine Shrimp and bought some Chiclid pellets. I was wondering what other foods Chiclids love and what you guys would recommend?
