Common Pleco's Should They Be So Readily Available?

If LFS's sold ottos like they do common plecs, they're going to have a lot of angry customers, ottos don't fair to well in home aquaria, they tend to only do well in proper algae filled biotopes and planted tanks.

i was thinking about getting some otto's maybe, my lfs, (you know where this is going right?)they said yup, there fine for your tank, they eat algae and will keep your tank clean! they didnt ask about anything else regarding my tank.

they seem to sell most sucker mouth fish as employees for your tank, i guess it makes sales but not the reason to buy such fish.

I somewhat agree........but anyone looking to by an animal, whether a fish or a reptile, or a dog, should do there homework! most stores have max size limits listed on the tanks, or you could always ask, or google it before you decide to purchase.
