Collected some local plants for my 32 litre tank
I think there's only 3 varieties in here but I already know from this location some plants that will fail in a tropical tank, so no need to try them again.
The process I've used is as follows: collecting the items, leave over night in chlorinated water. (drop any critters from the original water into your pond - and there are unintentionally loads) Dip in Potassium Permangenate solution and then in a rinse bucket.
Plant out in this small tank which is technically a quarantine tank for this purpose. (was originally supposed to be a breeding tank but it didn't work out.)
Fill the tank with water and immediately dose with blanket weed treatment (which doesn't take a lot because it's a tiny tank), because the collection location was full of blanket weed and there is definately some on the plants.
You will see a big spurt of growth even within 24 hours. (I'm not sure why - I think it's because a whole tank of tap water is full of CO2) but the good thing is when you do a water change on this tank, the whole tank gets filled with water with just 2 buckets.
see attached (yes it includes reeds - who knows whats going to happen!)
