hello all members
need your advice please
i have a 4ft long 2.5ft deep 2ft wide tank
i did have four 3inch goldfish,3 fancies,2 moors,5 minnows,2 shunkins
the tank was set up about two weeks ago now (the filter & pumps was set up long before this) i think it is a sump filter with two pumps as purchased it from someone who had used it for trocipal
i am a new fishkeeper so learning new things day by day the pet shop sold me my fish all together but now i have had to give away the goldfish as they was bullying the fancies then two of my minnows are missing and now the petshop lady advised me to get rid of the shunkins ( which i have done) as at night they will bully the fancies and eat the minnows
please any advise on what fish i can put into my tank safely so they can live as a happy family cause now my tank is nearly bear
any help please

More fancies, some Danios possibly, and some species of plecostomus would be fine. You can also get these little alien face hugger looking things that I can't recall the name of. There is a whole coldwater section on the board, go have a browse in there.

Ps Unless you've got a whole separate tank under the main one acting as a filter, then you ain't got a sump.

Pps. For the cost of running a heater, why not jump to tropical? The fish care is no different but the selection of available fish is!

hi
thank you for your reply
yes the filter/pumps etc are in a separate compartment at the side of the tank
did not know that about the tropical i thought they was hard to take care of could i keep the fish that is in there already
thank you for your advice

They are just as easy to take care of- but you cannot mix tropical and cold (as I found out many moons ago- was OK for a while but it speeds up the metabolisms of the goldies and they eat everything and grow really fast).

You are already finding out with your initial stocking problems, the value of good research before buying or doing anything.
