Co2 Replens

Help, my 2 lfs have stopped doing 500g CO2 refills/cylinder shops. Does anybody have any suggestions of how I can overcome this situation? I'm in the swindon/bath area and I can't find any other suppliers. I'm using a jbl setup too. Many thanks.

There is a site online that does it but cant remember which. not cheap and you have to send away. Other option is get a fire extinguisher and get a welding shop or fire safety shop (the ones that check fire extinguishers before adding the checked sticker to them).

Another option is to find somewhere like InstaGas or Air Products near you that rents you cylinder (5kg-20kg like a pub one) for a nominal rent normally something like £15 a year and the gas in a 2kg will last a year.

The final option which Themuleous has posted a thread on just below this one today where he is buying a 2kg fire extinguisher for £22 or something close and then after a year or so when it runs out buy a new one and take the old to the council tip.

I personally use disposables so cant really help you any more than this

I would reiterate the earlier comments about contacting a company who service or inspect your works' fire extinguishers as they will know who can refill them.

Even if you do not have a FE to be refilled, if you call them you may find that they will refill the aquarists CO2 cylinders.

The place that refilled my FE told me that they refill a lot of the smaller aquarists bottles (the "german ones" was how he described them ). Helpful as he was, he also pointed out which type of Fire extinguishers "most of the other aquarists prefer".

For anyone near Brum, I would highly recommend the Barber Bros. in Balsall Heath for getting the FE and other CO2 bottles refilled
