Hi everyone,

I am looking for some help on a basic co2 system. I have been reading quite a bit but need some further help. I have a tank roughly 500-600 litres heavily stocked with large wild piranha, which contains a few plants.

The plants have always been OK but never flourished massively, I use flourish excel but looking at some of the results with co2 feel it would give me the results I am after.

I don't want to try a DIY setup, would rather just buy a kit. I do have a budget over around £100 for this but cheaper the better. The kit doesn't need to be top spec as I don't have loads of plants, mainly anubias and lots of java fern.

The kits I have found are below, can someone give me some tips or products that would help me please.

Thanks

None of the links work, by far the easiest and cheapest way would be to use a CO2 fire extinguisher preferably a 5Kg on a tank this size and fit a regulator, solenoid, check valve, bubbles counter, diffuser etc, regulator's, solenoids, check valves, bubbles counters, diffusers and CO2 line are all readily available from ebay, you'll need a Drop Checker, bromothyml blue acid based indicator and 4DKH water to measure the CO2 content of the water also.

Thank you for the help, I will have a search on ebay. Sorry about the links here they are working

The first two will last you a few weeks at most, the last one will last a day or two, which is why fire extinguishers are better, you could even use a pub CO2 canister as they're larger and are refillable.

I am a bit wary of setting it all up myself which is why I was hoping to buy a kit. Is my only option to buy all the components seperately on ebay etc?

With a Fire extinguisher yes, it's the same as buying a kit, you'll have to fit the canister to a regulator etc, it's all the same, just a lot cheaper.

Cool thanks, I will try and find some of those parts on ebay, Could I buy the 3rd link and then buy a fire extinguisher and replace their bottle with that?

No - the thread size is different.

See the CO2 guide in the planted section for parts.

Just had a read sounds pretty complicated, might stick to the ferts!
