Hi all,

My 200L tank is devoid of bottom dwellers apart from the three spotted loaches added recently. The floor area is 120cm x 40cm.

What is the feeling on whether or not I can add some clown loaches? Perhaps four? Will a territory war begin?

Thanks,

Irf.

Hi,

Unless you plan on getting a bigger tank in future stick with smaller loaches such as zebra loaches or chain loaches as clowns grow 12 inches long. Have a look at www.loaches.com for more loaches which stay small.

Emma :)

clownloach's live up to 50 years and they grow very slowly...

they are also very very friendly playfull fish who gets along with most other fish... i had oscars and clarius's with my 15 loaches and not once was an argument...

my advice... go ahead start off with two and see how it goes. clown loaches should really not be alone...

I must admit, it is hard to find a fish that grows slower than a clown loach, no matter what conditions you give them. I would suggest at least 3, and the more the better.

What size tank do you have? Thats a lot of loaches

Do you have any problems with the Skunks?

ive got an juwel bo front 180. everyone in my tank gets along great. the only action is the silver dollars trying to spawn.

in my tank the skunks arent a problem but in my mates tank one skunk keeps eating the other fish's fins.

Im not famililar with the Juwel tanks, but im thinking the 180 is 180 Liters? If so, isnt that way too small for all those loaches? Thats not to mention the other fish in the tank

Hi , I would try and had two the smallest ones you can find and when they get that bit bigger get a bigger tank . They should be fine for now they dont grow that fast.Clown loach can be really friendly and a great fish to keep .Ive got four and never had a problem if i was you i'd go for it and you will have them for years.WHEN THEY GET BIGGER GET A NEW TANK YOU'LL HAVE NO TROUBLE. GOOD LUCK! :good:

Hi clownloachlady

Is your juwel tank the vision 180 or the vision 450? I take it all your loaches are still babies but the tank is seriously overstocked if you only have the 180.

I have the same tank for my cory community and wouldn't want my loaches living in there as its far too small. :/

According to a guy on here called Mark, he contacted juwel and the number doesn't represent the litres in the tank its just a rough guide. If you put the tanks dimentions into a tank calculator it comes up with just short of 55 US gallons

Emma -_-

Thanks to all for comments on this.....

I think I now have a new loach-related problem - see my other post!

Regards,

Irf.

I have a 180 bow in lounge and over the weekend i set a 240 up in the hallway. My silver dollars and a few other have been moved to the hallway and are not all in the same tank.
