A pair of clown fish, as the lights go out, and all others go to bed. They decide its best to just waddle, the darkness seems to bring uncertainty, what to do till the light returns?

As I would say to my children, GO TO BED!

?

My clown would do this in a natural rock cave in a piece of lr when the lights would go out. Whether fish sleep is a debate that come up many times on TFF but this is def a natural response from nature and being on a reef. They wouldn't like a shark or other large fish coming along out of the darkness and snatching them up, so they do what they can to protect themselves.

:good:

Yeah, highly debatable topic that one, but that's the behavior all clownfish do. They pick a spot and sort of stay swimming there every night... Usually near the host organism if they have one.

Mine used to go all the way to the surface of the water and "waddle" there all night, but it would scare me half to death because the flopping would sound like fish were jumping...
Since hosting a coral now, they just sit around in that all night, like they do all day.

Hey Thanks guys,

I was starting to think my tank bread pair were stur crazy!

They just seem to gently waddle round the middle front of the tank, not a dead spot at all, they have not found a home yet. So I wonder do these little creatures sleep swim, so to speak?

Not much info online but this mirrows what mine are doing.
