Hi Guys, I have to close my Cichlid tank down. How would I go about it? I have to get rid of it due to financial issues. Can I sell the whole tank on eBay and let the buyer come and collect the whole thing, or should I just give away my cichlids and sell the tank separately?

Thanks
D.

Whatever suits you...

You can put the whole tank on ebay and ask for collection only, but will probably sell for less because, you're relying on people with travelling distance and that they'll want a whole tank even with fish isn't as likely although you never know. So you'd imagine you would get more money if you sold seperately.

Selling the whole tank might take ages because simply no one can transport it but on the other hand selling it in parts might be awkward because you can't sell the filter first, you'd have to sell the fish!

sell it in sections starting with the fish list them on ebay in batches collection only 99p start price because its free then once people start coming to collect the fish you can tell them about the other stuff you will be selling maybe they will make you offers for your other stuff

What about giving the fish away free to a good home and selling the tank on flea-bay?
Do you think they would go quicker? The fish that is?

Advertising the fish on here and, say, Aquarist Classifieds would be a good start, it's free and you're more likely to end up with them going to a good home, whereas on Ebay any old randomer could bid. You could try advertising it as a complete setup to start with, but splitting it up if there's no interest. The tank, on here or Ebay.

what fish have you got ?

Assorted Malawi. I bought them over two years ago. There are two babies born in the tank and approximately 8-10 of them.
1 is an electric blue johanni
1 is a yellow version johanni,

then the rest is zebra types, blue stripes and yellow fins, one yellow one that has the tail fin shredded, but now it has found it's hiding place. Ideally I would be looking to re home them to a tank that is 180L+

I bet you'll find that someone on here will want them!

Also check with your LFS. You may be able to put up fliers at least. They may even be willing to take the fish and tank and resell them. You may be able to get a store credit or even see what they would give you for it. Just a thought^^

I could take them depending on where you are?? I am still stocking my malawi and will love to home them with my malawi, approx how big are they?
