Got a very small tropical tank from my parents.
The ordainments are green with algae.
How do I remove the green so I can see the things in there original beauty?

Should I soak them in chorine, then wash them afterwards, or will some seep into the ordainments?
Other than that I have no idea. I used an old tooth brush, removed some, but I think it was removing alittle of the paint with it.

oh, please move this to the right forum, sorry.

Need help, thanks.

Hi and :hi: to the forums.

why not try a few algae eating fish in your tank??

i appreciate the tank is not very big (so plecs etc are pretty much out of the question) but how about getting a few otos in there.

They're great for clearing up the algae and a lovely little fish to look at too!

They do need a fully cycled and mature tank though (which it sounds like you have anyways, what with all the excess algae in there) because they can be quite delicate and will not survive if their surroundings aren't sufficient.

Alternatively, if you don't want/cant fit any more fish, you can simply take the ornaments out and give them a good proper clean and scrub. This should preferably be done with water from your tank but if not tap water will suffice...just don't put them back in the tank until they have thoroughly dried (probably best to leave overnight)

hope this helps.

Use some good old hot tap water and a clean new toothbrush.
The stuff comes right off.
do NOT use any type of bleach, etc. - it'll kill more than you want it to.

Just make sure you don't put the tootbrush in your t.brush holder in the bathroom when you're done
