Ok, do Cleaner Shrimp hibernate? Because he is stiff, and he didn't respond when I stuck my net in the water next to him.

Not that i've ever heard of.

What's the Temperature in your tank?

Are you sure it's not his shedded skin or anything?

What type of shrimp is it?...if you know.

He is a Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, the water is about 78 degrees. I read a thread about shrimp molt when they are introduced to a new aquarium. When they molt do they become stiff?

Are you sure it's not the skin of the shrimp after it's molted?

Once they have molted they go into hiding for a bit

Does the skin look like the shrimp, like the coloring? I also only have one big pice of live rock in the middle of my tank, and the caves in it are not that big. The Yellow Tail Damsel I have fits in the caves.

Yup skin looks pretty similar

heh pick "him" up and squish "him" in your hand and see if he's hollow. Sounds like you're another victim of omg-I-thought-my-invertebrates-molted-skin-was-a-corpse syndrome. Happens to the best of us.

I don't think he can fit into the caves in my live rock. The Yellow Tail can, but I don't think the shrimp could. And also should he be molting, I only had in for a few hours in my tank?

Ah I hadn't realised that you had just added him

How long did you acclimatise him for?

If he's stiff and doesn't move at all then he's probably dead... :( Was he moving in the LFS tank?

Yeah, he was. The nitrate in my water is low, I just tested it. So, I don't know how he died?

did you keep the water temp the same as the tank as you acclimated?

could be anything really. SO hard to tell man :(
