I bought 3 cigar sharks for my 90g as company for my single male frontosa. Info seems a bit scarce on the net but they seem pretty peaceful and are really hungry little boys. One has a deformed mouth and had half his tail missing which has grown back in a month. They scoff catfish pellets and also cooked fish which fronty has. Anyone know anymore about them please?

erm I hope you don't mean the "real" shark species called a cigar shark, http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/...kiecutter.shtml
I'm guessing though you mean this http://www.aquafriend.com/modules.php?op=m...=article&sid=39

or you could be meaning tinfoil barb http://www.jjphoto.dk/fish_archive/warm_fr...thys_apogon.htm :dunno:
No he means the cigar shark (Leptobarbus hooveni)sp i have one over 12in and there exellent aquarium fish for large tanks they can get to 24in and do as ive seen one there top/midddle water fish and are not aggressive.

Hey Wolf, fantastic info as usual. They are indeed red_finned cigar sharks, couldn't find any info myself. The only info I could find was on the top species in your reply so first I panicked big time, then realised cutter sharks look nothing like mine (thank goodness!) Nice to know I have them in the correct size tank.

Can I quickly pick your brains for a fish that would stir up the sand in my 90g? I was thinking something that likes to bury in sand or dig. Would khuli loaches be ok? Fancy something a bit unusual.

well for something that likes to dig my sailfin pleco did that (I got rid of him for that very reason).
khulies do like to bury in the sand and I've found that the silver khulies do that the best, but if you want my opinion go for Malaysian trumpet snails as they will do a far better job.

is this cigar shark ???
