Cichlids… squabble, for tank boss…

My pet store “mutt” angel fish has been the tank boss for a while on this tank, with the pack of earth eater’s constantly fighting amongst themselves, but not directing that aggression at anyone else in the tank… since I removed 3 of them, that has changed the dynamics in the tank… I was worried that the one remaining would direct its aggression towards everyone else… but it’s been good that way, but it no longer is allowing the angel to be the tank boss… they are not constantly fighting, and the tank is at peace most of the time but I’m noticing some shredding of the angel’s top fin… so I’m watching closely… I’m hoping that “mutt” will relinquish the tank boss role, which it really only displays at feeding time, and it’s fin heals… it’s not severely damaged, just roughed up a bit

I had forgotten how much fun Cichlids can be… this tank is totally peaceful right now, but I may have to remove the last earth eater, if the damage continues…

It makes you realise how good you’ve got it when everyone is doing their own thing without the violence. It’s understandable when your charge is in a box. Balance is awesome when achieved and can be a thing to keep you up and night when it goes sour.
