Hi

I was doing my weekly water change today, and I found on the glass supports some Copepods, now I know from what I read its not harmful for my fish to have these little white fella's in the tank with them in fact its a extra food for them , but what i don't understand is that I thought these only ocurred with salt water tanks?

the tank was orignally a salt water tank about 4 months ago- could it be from there, and if so I thought they couldn't survive in freshwater?

Any advise on this would be helpful

A very confused Cichlid fish owner

Thanks in advance

maybe you could try asking this in the marine section as well.

i have no clue if copepods could survive in FW or not, sorry

The strange thing is that I don't have any live plants, so they must have come from when the tank was a marine one 4 months ago- and there was no sign of them even 2 weeks ago- unless their eggs were somewhere in the tank- even so i would have thought sw over to fw would kill them
