What a cool thread! I'll do some of those things myself this year, especially the change of background. There are lots of interesting Christmas wrapping papers that come on rolls that should work out just right.

The one thing I hope everyone avoids doing is buying dyed fish. Every year they turn up in the lfs and it's not the way to celebrate the spirit of the holiday. In fact, now is a good time to tell your lfs that you hope he doesn't even stock them.

you could stick a large piece of christmas warpping paper on the outside as a background/wallpaper...maybe?
