Christmas!

The change of backgrond idea is a good one. You can get ceramic ornaments as mentioned too... They're not designed for aquariums but can go in them.

You'll be able to stick certain glass baubles in there too... without glitter or paint.

Avoid anything painted or porous.

Oh, and you could add dried ferns in red & green christmassy colours. You can find them in loads of LFS. They come in some crazy colours but red and green sould suit the theme nicely (or whatever colour your decorations will be)

Just remember... any changings to their environment and the fish may stress the fish... esspecially if they're as dramatic as putting in objects that light up. Personally, I don't think it's fair to add anything into the tank that you wouldn't find in the wild (With the exeption of life-like artifical plants) but thats just my opinion :)

Moss? Is that like english tinsel?

Oh.
Hmhmhm.... I'm up for santa clause...

The background is a great idea! It would be neat to find a picture of the north pole or something similar to place on the back of your tank. Swimming in a winter wonderland! Haha, corny, I know

Every year for xmas, I take bows and stick all over the hood. I like to take the bows that have long ribbons attached to them, and stick them near the side of the hood so the ribbons can hang down. It looks very nice.

Thanks for all your replies, I didn't expect so many. I had quite a chuckle at some of them. I couldn't imagine trying to put a santa hat on my shark and it would be a nightmare trying to fit all my tetras with hats.

I like the idea of the Christmas background theme though, why didn't I think of that!!!!!

I am now going to try and work out the genuine replies from those of you taking the mickey.

Thanks again folks

I might do that for my nano...that'd be funny!

I like that idea! Doesn't stress the fish, because they can't see it! Yet it give the tank a festive look!

Yep, I do something along those lines for Christmas every year. Here's a picture of my 30g last year. The other tanks had fancier ribbons...but I ran out before I got to this tank. :p
