I bought 6 cherries, and lost 3 as they were very small and suffered at the hands of my dwarf cichlid.

3 hid and survived and are now large enough to sex. They are all females.

If I add more shrimp to my tank so as to get males and females and have breeding population, will the babies feed my fish (community aquarium see sig below), or will the small guys simply hide to the extent that they all survive and the tank gets overloaded with them.

Reason I ask is that everyone here seems to say they have too many shrimp, and if you look at the buying/selling section of the website there are people selling loads of them.

..

If I grow shrimp in my fry tank, and then transfer young at a munchable size into the community tank for my cichlids to eat - are they going to be eaten? I wouldnt want them ALL to survive in my community tank.

Most young will probably get eaten with those fish. Especially the rams. They are really good at hiding, so if you have java moss for them to hid in a few young will probably survive.

I've got too many shrimp .

My breeding populations of cherry shrimps live with dwarf puffers and no doubt baby shrimps get eaten all the time. The number of shrimps still increases but at a much slower rate. Baby shrimps are very fast and good hiders so some will certainly escape the mouths of fish and make it to adulthood and breed :)

i dont have any shrimps at the moment, but what if you dont have any fishs that shrimp, for example i have 2 mollies,2 glass fish and a couple of noens, i nkow these fish wont eat shrimp,or baby shrimp (at least i think so)

but how would you be able to keep there population to a set number with out over population??

i dont want to scope some n flush them, i dont have a fish that would eat them, and lets just say what if i cant sell them
