Cherry Barbs as teachers

Last night I noticed my female black skirt eating off the floor of the tank. Something she never does unless she is eating her eggs. So I went over to see what she was doing and her and a male barb were snacking on the alea wafer I put in for my pleco. All my barbs go around picking at things on the plants and rocks and such, but my black skirts have never done this. I thought it was kinda cool, but now she is going to get so fat and my poor pleco won't have any food! Well besides what is in the tank naturally. Just wanted to share.

ye that all ways happens to me i throw in the pleco pellets next minute all the mollies and my barbs r there eating them after i just fed them!!

well usually, when i feed my fish flakes, even the fish that r sleeping would wake up and eat!

Throw the algae disc in after you turn the lights off. Plecos are mostly nocturnal. They will find it and eat it then.

I usually put the algea disc in while I'm feeding the fish b/c my pleco does come out quite a bit when it is still light. And I really don't mind the other fish snacking on it really. My plec hasn't really been bothering with the disc lately and I'd rather it get eaten than get thrown out. I was just really surprised to find my female black skirt eating it lol.
