About a month ago someone found a little tank whilst out and about at work, it was dumped at the side of the skip. So after a couple of weeks it was still there so i decided to take it. Turns out someone was going to take the following weekend...oh well, should have took it sooner! ;)

It was just the bare tank so in theory i needed a heater, a filter and eventually a light. I got talking to someone else from work the same afternoon when he saw me with the tank in the van. He said he had a couple of old heaters from when he used to keep fish which he kept for brewing beer (Thats when he lost me, lol) The next day he brought me in a Rena 50w heater and a Rena 100w heater, only thing missing was the suction cup holder things, 99p for a holder from my LFS. So that 99p so far... I already had a filter that came with a tank i bought a few months ago from Hackmaster. Tank is also bare bottomed so no cost there either, although i do have spare sand, coloured gravel and natural gravel should i decide otherwise.

Although tonight i nipped to P@H and came away with a little filter jobby that fits on to a air pump so thats another £5.69 to add to the cost of the heater holder. I bought this as i thought my Fluval 4 plus was a bit of an overkill for a 30 litre tank.

But the best bit is the background... A lovely piece of wallpaper from B&Q, it was a sample obviously!!! haha!! Proper tight! lol.

So basically got a 30 litre tank for the grand total of £6.58! Bargin at twice the price! :good: :D

Currently being used to house about 25-30 Swordtail fry.

I'm in need of a clamp on light if anyone could help, looked on ebay but don't want to spend £20 on one when it's basically a fry tank and has cost so far, less than £7!!

The person who gave me the heaters told .me he had seen one somewhere but couldn't remember where... I was furious! Lol!!

Since you have so far managed to do so much for this tank on the cheap (good for you :good: ) what about a flexible desk lamp for putting light into the tank? They are often surprisingly cheap and come in so handy for other applications like keeping baby birds warm  .

That tanks the same as my hospital tank its a arcadia arc tank if you didn't know they do a light for it you can usually pick them up used for about a tenner they look really nice on it.

The light is called a arcadia arc pod if you search that in ebay there is usually some on there going cheap i think mine was £24 brand new from wharf aquatics in nottingham/pinxton.

Do9 you know I never thought of using wallpaper for the background but that looks great

Lol, thanks Marie. It's not brilliant and I only did it to hide all the wires as they're just resting on the top of draws.

The ultimate in re-cycling! :good:

Thanks, shame to see someone else make good use of it eh?!
