I feed mine rather randomly too, sometimes daily sometimes a few times a week. they're pretty adaptable fish. I tend to change food alot with mine to keep them intrested

i feed mine once a day and now and then miss a day or two min used to take flake when they were young then just stoped as they got bigger but mine go mad for mealworm and any bugs i find. earthworms r all so good i used them when my fish went off there food they went mad for them. i have had no look getin mine on pellet but i think meaty foods is best. thanks jason

k, im gunna check what kind of bugs my lfs has, but what kind of stuff should i do to the bugs to clean them before i put them in?

i just shot them in the tank lol i cut earthworms up cos if they get to the bottom them go into it and the assams cant get at it but the ones i buy r for food so i cant say realy

Don't give up on the pellets!

If you can get your channa onto pellets, It makes life so much easier (and cheaper)not to mention the health benefits.

You have to keep trying though. All my Bleheris are on pellets and have managed to even get my Aurantis on pellets! (That one wasn't so easy)

Agreed, i have all my snakeheads on pellet's, and the fry are muching on flake food happily enough at present, also finely chopped prawn and dried meal worms....

I find doing this helps if you run out of one thing you still have the other options....my channa pluero loves pellets...so much he will keep taking until he cannot fit anymore in, but ends up dropping when he goes for a gulp at the surface

sweet,what kind of pellets would be recommended? like in protein content and all that, or brands...

If they'll take them hikari massivore pellets are great, google vetuk and get them from there . probs the cheapest you'll find them

ok, i have those at my LFS, but since in not in the UK i wont get from vetuk.

whats the minimum amount i could get if i got a group? do i need at least six? or can i get just 2, or will they kill eachother, or like 3, 4...?

i got 3 assams at the min i started with 4 one of them got out of the tank but there has not been much fighting but if u want to breed i think u will be better off geting 6. othere ppl will no more on this than me. good luck

yes thats a good reccomendation, getting around 6 helps the chances of getting a pair,

ok, what do i do with the extras? just sell them to someone i guess... and at what size do they start pairing up?
