Changing my 55 gallon tank from gravel to sand, any help would be appreciated.

So far it seems good, I will do a water change tomorrow and vacuuming so I will have to see how well that goes. I hope there will be no negative effects for the fish. I was going to change over my 30 gallon shrimp tank instead but all those platy fry showed up. I also found out that the gravel was hardening my water when I was trying to soften it with RO water so I would have had to do it anyway.

Just finished vacuuming my tank and it went better than I thought with the new sand. Taking a breather before putting in the clean water. Have to mix in the RO with the treated tap. I had my hardness down to 60ppm when I started it climbed back to 71ppm. I am working on 40ppm hopefully today.
