total no-brainer.. dogs all the way! but truly it depends on you and your lifestyle. With a dog you'll get unconditional love, someone who will greet you like you've been gone a month even if you just stepped out to the post office, a loyal friend, someone who sticks by you when you're sick.. or scared.. or sad.. or just in need of a good cuddle, a protector and someone who will always look up and admire you. But.. in return you need to be home everyday to walk him, brush him, feed him, play with him, train him and make him a member of your family. If you can't do that.. get a cat. They just ignore you anyway :p (ducks from all the flying objects thrown by cat lovers)

when you look into a dogs eyes, you see love and affection, it enjoys your company and likes to play with you. You look into a cats eyes you dont see so much love, and when you go to see it you can sense it's saying "oh you again". Come one dog people! we can win this! :D

I disagree, I believe both can give "love" as we interpret it. I have both and can't "choose" between them for this.

I think it should go on your lifestyle too - dogs are a LOT harder to look after, but cats aren't the easy option either and indoor cats need as much stimulation and interaction as any dog. Can't comment on cats that go out as mine are all indoor cats for safety reasons. Of course with a dog you have the added responsibility of training classes, etc, which are imperative for a well socialised pet.

There is a saying that 'In Egyptian times cats were revered as Gods, and cats have never forgotten this '

We have 7 dogs and 6 cats, so it's fair to say we like them both :D

Sorry but i TOTALLY diasgree. I had a cat called jakey, he meant the world to me! When i looked into his eyes i could definately see love!!! (i know this sounds odd but i had a real connection with that cat) He was SOOOO special to me and helped me through some really bad times. Sadly he is no longer with us, although he will always be in my heart. When we lost him i was so sad and depressed for ages :-(

I love that puppy k.o.d. IME the choice between cats and dogs was always financial plus everyone being out all day. When I lived at home we had cats because they are cheaper than a dog to keep IME plus they don't need you around so much. I can remember all the cats we had when I was a child with fondness. I always kept dogs when I got married because I always wanted one. I just have the tropical fish as my house is too quiet for a dog now the children are grown up. The poor dog would be bored to death! They need a lot going on to keep them interested. :) So I like cats and dogs the same.
