ok then

well you see the black lines on top of the head ?

when they are born the lines start over the beak then as they get older the lines recede backwards (like my hair lol)

so the closer to the beak the lines start the younger the bird if they start over the top of its head then they are older hope this helps. If that doesnt make sense let me know and Ill re word it sorry

the cere (bit above the beak) could turn brown depending on just how old it is ive had many a sex change lol

but yeah you will now know if the shop is telling the truth about the age

Cool so if i go to a pet shop and say "can i buy 2 baby budgies 1m 1f" and they come out with adults not young ones i can say "i said baby not adult" if they say "these are babies" i can say "no their not. look at the stripes on it's head" they can't argue. Yay i like feeling powerful.
