Can Someone Identify This (Possibly) Cory For Me?

There are a few species that appear to be almost impossible to get to breed in a tank, and so most examples are Wild Caught and simply grow up in a tank.

a lot of fish that aren't bred in tanks are artificially impregnated, so they don't have to necessarily be bred in tanks.

That makes no sense at all.

Regardless, I'm quite happy to believe a trusted source at my LFS who I know for a long time already. He tells me they were wild caught, I'm happy to go along with that.

Just to add on the wild caught thing, I have to admit I kind of doubt it as well. Most Synos are being mass bred all the time now so see no real reason for importers to get wild caught. Wild caught would be charged a premium for quality like many other tank bred fish are. And also if they were wild caught they would not have been sold as Cories and its not like if they were wild caught they could have had the labels mixed up on the way in as they are from totally different countries.

On top of that putting wild caught on the tank is just a selling trick not just at shop level but also at wholesaler and also importers. For example your friend from the shop could have simply bought them as "Wild Catfish" and no one questions it so for him and his customers (you) they are now wild caught, when in actual fact most Synodontis are farmed in Eastern Europe

Not being harsh just a few facts to think about - but at the same time I am happy to take your friends word that they are wild as we have no proof either way.

Jinkz, I can confirm they are Upside Down Cats as I have two which I have had about seven or more years, they don't grow very big, about three inches in total and if you have lots of hides you may be lucky to see them when you do a water change and remove all the hides and occasionally they come out for a nose around, but interesting to watch and good communal fish.
