Right as per usual got some fish and dont know what they are but as you all know its not my fault its the fish shops in northern ireland not knowing what species they have so can you take a look for me.

This one was called albino zebra it is a different shape to my socolofi.

And this one is called a pseudotropheus i explained to him you may as well just call it a fish.

And then this one was quiet blue and orange in the shop now looks like this?

i recon this one is the same as the last one as this is what the orange one looked like in the shop.

They are but im able to take them back all 3 are going back this morning with a big ******* talking to about how come every fish i ******* buy from this bloody country turns out to be a sodding lombardoi.

that 3rd photo, as it is, looks like a maylanda hajomaylandia (mundola reef) but they dont have blue colouring. shame, cause there a beutiful cichlid.

I'm probably going to ruffle a few fins with this but...

what the hell goes thru your mind sometimes Mark?

Does it occur to you the absolute stress you put on all those fish that you constantly buy then bring home then dump into a new tank with dominant fish established in different water then lfs tanks, you ask us for ID, dont like the ID so you take the fish back only to stress them all over again!!!!!!!

Why not buy a frigging malawi book, take it to the store and ID the fish yourself, this way you will be self taught instead of relying on people here so much, creating your own personal knowledge of the fish your interested in.

At the very least take your digi, shoot pics AT THE STORE then bring them here....

Stop tormenting the fish.

And if I were you, I'd stop going into the same lfs, it's obvious the guy is short on intellegence reguarding his own dam product. Perhaps If you tell him how he's screwing up he might correct himself and you can do business with him again in the future.

If this offends you..OH WELL, I'm not trying to tick you off, only open your eyes.

I would be shocked if I were the only one that this occured to here.

Good luck & always keep the fish's well being in mind.

As i have explained to you before out in northern ireland where i live at the minute there is one fish distributer who delivers to every lfs in the country so its them who mis inform all the lfs they do not know any difference. Im not as good as all of you at id`ing cichlids i can tell what the most common ones look like but thats as far as my intelligence takes me and a book is not going to show me a pic of a poorly bred hybrid lombardoi is it????? The shop i go to is an hour drive there and an hour drive back so the last thing im going to do is drive down there take pics drive back find out what they are then drive back down there. So if i do buy a fish and someone would be kind enough to id it for me it would be great ferris and brewyn have been a great help to me as you have never told me what anyfish are then i dont see why you have gone off on one.

MAMMA FISH, do you have to be so harsh, could you not just Pm mark rather than try ridicule him in public, I completely agree with what you have said, but mark is trying, and is taking in the advise that people are giving him, you only have to look at his recent photos of his mbuna tank to see this.

Mark, there is nothing wrong with the majority of the cichlids you buy, malawis are a naturaly aggressive fish, and you are very unlikely going to have a mellow tank, you have taken the correct steps to limit the amount of aggression you may witness by adding lots of rock and giving your fish somewere to retreat, and apart from that, theres not much more you can do. you must like the look of the fish that you purchase or why else would you get them. if you find that one fish is quite aggressive, and I dont just mean chasing, then yes, take it back. a good book to get is the aqualog, malawi, mbuna. I have it and its a cracker of a book.

I dont see a fight, and I dont see how a few harsh words can put people off a forum????????

"If this offends you..OH WELL, I'm not trying to tick you off, only open your eyes."

"Good luck & always keep the fish's well being in mind."

If I had wanted to be harsh.. trust me I could have but it wasnt warranted in his case at all.

somethingfishie, mind your own please....

dont worry about it mate mamafish is always being!

it is his decision not yours mamafish!!if he wants to stress the fish then let him its not your decision to make!!

i hope you successfully ID your fish mate and dont worry about things like it!

jamie :)

I have taken in the advise that everyone has given me and dont worry mamafish you aint upset me im a big boy now and can take critisism as well as compliment if i was in uk mainland i.e england scotland or wales i would not have a problem as i know shops there i can go to that have the fish labled up as what they are and i wouldnt need to post to ask. My problem is where i live as i have explained before i find it quiet embarasing that i always have to post and ask what some fish are but its not my fault or my lfs its the distributer and there is nothing that can be done as he is the only one in this country.
