I want to paint the back of my tank. We started using an acrylic blue. Is this a good idea? We have used in the past rust-o-leum. I have about 8 hunter green coats (it takes alot) on my FW. We painted the tank with that, but when we went to get it drilled, it started to bubble. My dad then ripped the ENTIRE coat off in one sheet! :X I have not had problems with the FW coats, but i can see that I could EASILY peel it off ( tryed a bit in the corner) So if anyone has successfully painted their tank, please show a pic, manufacturer, and color. I want a dark blue for my tank. Thanks guys!

Hummm, not sure if an acrylic is the way to go to paint glass... I'm no expert painter, but I do know that any Latex primer paint that I've gotten on my windows in my house has never come off. Be that as it may, doing a latex primer/paint setup MIGHT work, but then again you might see the primer through the glass

Hopefully someone else knows how to paint tanks

Maybe you could post this in the DIY forum, or a mod can move it there for you. You're more likely to get a few more answers there i think.

I know nothing about painting tanks, however i do know that my LFS do it for all their display tanks and they look great, im quite lucky as my fish tanks are all placed near plain walls and i tend to have the backs of the tanks filled with silk plants anyways so cant see much behind that. All my tanks are Juwel aswell so i dont have any trailing cables that you can see through the back either.
