Hi, If I were to put a speaker near to my fish tank, would the vibrations disturb them???

Thanks

Yes it will definately disturb them and stress the fish out, you should definately avoid having your tank anywhere where there is loud noise like from the tv or music sterio and speakers etc.

yeah, it's a bad idea. Should try an avoid putting it near anywhere that makes lots of noise.

My alarm clock is around 2 foot from my tank... And sometimes I lay in bed trying to cover my ears for a while! It never even came into my head that it may be bothering the fish!

I hate it when you see fish tanks in clubs and bars, soooo insensitive

Depends how loud you have your music, I play music from my computer and it doesn't bother fish in tanks less than a foot away that I've notice.

sound waves do affect the tank. it disrupts the water and your fishes feel it.

I am sure they hear it, but I wonder if it is the sort of thing they become accustomed to, much like a dog in the city becomes accustomed to traffic and other noises. If you were to take a dog that was raised in a quiet situation, such as in the boonies it would take some time for them to get used to the noise.

I know people who keep fish near the airport, and have no problem breeding, even though low flying commercial airliners fly a couple hundred feet over their house. I also know that some oscars don't mind very loud heavy metal music. Many years ago I was in a band, we practiced at the drummer's house. A couple times weekly it was really loud, and the breeding oscars had no problem with it.

I listen to my music pretty loud, the fish don't seem bothered at all. The people living down stairs are though, not that i care for them as much as my fish.

There have been several studies that show fish hearing can be damaged by loud noises, and even some research suggests that high levels of ambient sound can cause reduced success in breeding.

my fish seem to dance when ever i play my music my killifish starts rolling over himself in an S shape and my guppies become more active and all the fish come out even the kuhlii loaches start swimming about i guess they like metal
