the guy in my LFS did say they were pretty rare, i might pop in tomorrow to ask what they are.

I think they're beautiful too i'll try and get some better pics when my camera is fixed.

If they are Synodontis ornatipinnis, which i'm pretty sure they are then your looking at a large species that will grow to between 12-15inches,

Also if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay them for?

Davo86 they do look an awful lot like Synodontis ornatipinnis. I do have a spare very large/deep tank if they do get thet big. I wasn't aware that they would get so big though, the info i've had from my LFS has been spot on so far and i'd definately remember if i was told they'd get so big

It's not a problem anyway, i'm dying to get my other tank set up but my partner says i have enough with 2. (i say the crab tank doesn't count! lol)

i paid £6 each for them i think, i got them about 6 months ago and they were about 1.5 inches then.

sounds like you got a bargain then, my workplace would be selling them for nearer £16.50 each if not more,

It appears to be some type of Synodontis.

i agree the colouration of the fish and the shape of the head suggetsts that it is some kind of synodontis catfish i dont think it looks like a pleco
