WE ARE SETTING UP AN AQUIRIUM WITH 100 TANKS (30"X15"X12"). WE WERE GOING TO SEPERATLY FILTER AND HEAT EACH TANK BUT TOTAL WATTAGE FOR THIS SYSTEM WOULD BE 25,000 WATTS. PLUSS MAINTANENCE WOULD BE TIME CONSUMING.

IS THERE A SYSTEM OR IDEA SOMEONE COULD GIVE US THAT WE COULD USE A SUMP FOR THIS INSTEAD, OR EVEN SPLIT THE 100 TANKS INTO GROUPS AND SUMP SEVERAL. IS THEIER A FILTER THAT HAS SEVERAL INPUTS AND OUTPUTS FOR WATER?

BASICALY WHAT WOULD BE THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY OF DOING THIS.
WE HAVE EVEN THOUGHT OF USING STRONG POND FILTERS (CHANGING TO THE APPROPRIATE MEDIA) AND WATER PUMPS BUT HOW WOULD YOU HAVE SEVERAL PIPES ALL CONECTED BY THE TIME IT GETS TO THE PUMP AND VIS VERSA ON THE RETURN.

thanks

hi and welcome to the board.

you would be best going for sump systems. you would need a 3/4" hole drilling in either the base of each tanbk with a stand pipe and have some sort of grill on to stop fish being sucked down or a hole through the back and have a grill on that. either way, the water must be taken from the surface as a, it will stop scum setteling on the surface, b, most of the organics are at the surface of an aquarium and, c, most importantly, if the power goes, then the water will drain to this whole, and the sump should be able to handle this amount of water. you can have all the pipes going top one sump if you like but it would be better to have them in banks of 4 so that if the worst come to the wors and you got a disease or you needed to strip some of the tanks, then you will not need to turn off the whole system and you won't lose to many fish. Is you do go for a large centralised system, then I would consider an ITT marlow pump from ITT industries. these are extreemly powerfull and can handle high pressures. also, you may want to consider fluidised sand filters as these along side trickle towers will give great filtration capacity.

depending on your budget, you may want to go for a TMC comercial system where it is basicly plug and play. just make sure your sat down when you find out the price :p . these are good filters and are simple to setup.

look here

theres to much to go through really, if you have any more spcific questions, then that would be better as I don't know what you want to keep, budget how in depth you want to go etc.
