chiclid.jpg

sorry about the poor pic

Thanks Matt

Is this your fish ?

Keep an eye on the puffer , which turns out to be a brackish water fish BTW.

Thomosis are actually an African cichlid , but are more similar to new worlds than rift lake cichlids .

Pretty easy to care for as well . :)

Thanks lucky62, yeah its a friends fish I've let him know what puffers can be like.

Thanks for the ID will check it out.

nope, not a jewel
deff. a Thomasi.
they both come from west africa though

DD

Could be a new born blue ram, as it hasnt developed most of its 'black' yet, but i can see the hint of the red on the fins. :dunno:

It's a thomosi :) , I have 2 now and kept them several times in the past , as well as their larger cousin the Jewel cichlid [ both west African ciclids ] .

I kept Rams as well .

Rams are AKA Dwarf butterfly cichlids........thomosis are AKA the African dwarf butterfly cichlid . So I could understand any confusion :D

its beautiful, whatever it is.

--EDIT--

actually, i did a bit of quickie research and based on the stuff i found, that's an excellent picture you've put up! very flattering to the fish
