C.trilineatus The Daily Photo Update (closed)

ok So its Day 12, and time for another up date.
They are now taking Promin fish food, crushed up into a powder. ITs 50% protein so helping them grow :D

I've lost a few more I think, they were very small compared tot he rest and survival of the fites has taken another few victims.

I think I have 7-8 now.

Anyway heres the pics, from day12.

I have two which are a lot bigger then the others, which are all about the same size.

Nice Lil fish, very cute. I'm hoping to breed my cory trili's. I've got the tank and the filter is being seeded in my main tank as we speak. Just gotta pop in to LFS and get a plastic plant, heater, and thermometer today.

How are the babies doing §tudz?? Any more pics???

Mine hatched the other day and I cannot believe how small they are. They are incredibly tiny, smaller than the panda fry which hatched the same time. I haven't any more action from the parents, but I think they are still too young. My panda adults are bigger. How big are your parents?? Where abouts are you based again?? I wouldn't mind doing a swap of the fry when they're bigger, so we can widen our gene pool.

Keep well, Carmen
:D

I live about 100miles from you, nr Chester

I'm down to 3 fry :( lost two last night, not sure why.

:-(

Just got in and only got two left now...

what can I be doing wrong? My Bronze Cories died off about the two week mark as well,

It may have something to do with the food mate. When we first started keeping the cory fry, we lost loads of bronze fry in the first few weeks. It seemed their bellies didn't look full like they should have. When we started with the microworms, we had hardly any losses. The microworms were definitely the best food for them so soon.

Sorry to hear about your looses, it's hard to know why at such a young age. How often are you doing water changes??

:/

Are they just gone or have fungus or what do they look like? Mine have nibbled on black worms at a very young age. I'm thinking it could be food also. (Although I am by no means knowledgeable or experienced with any fry raising.)

water changes daily of about 20%

They have become infested by fungus either.

Maybe I should get a whiteworm culture next time, any ideas from where? as being in the uk not that many websites available to us for this sorta thing. Though I could be wrong.

I haven't had white worms before, but have heard that they are too big for small fry (I think). That's why we have microworms. Microworms are one size, tiny, and even my tiniest cory fry manage to woolf down a bunch every feed. I got microworms off ebay and I think there are a few other folk on this forum who would be able to sort you out with a culture. I would send, but I don't really have anything to put it in, and the culture we got was send in a bag, that leaked during posting and we only barely managed to save it.

If you don't come right, let me know. I'm sure we could sort something out. I'll have a word with hubby, hopefully he can think of something suitable to send some it.

:p

Cheers, I'll have a look about, and yeah I ment Micro worms :D
Looks like it'll be the next spawn but its all a learnign curve :( unfortunatly with casualties, but there is no war without death.
