My mollly gave borth to 30 fry over a week preiod. So oviously some were bigger then others. So everything was fine, they were eating well, getting along well and they just were normal. so i wake up this mroning and go to chek them out and 5 of the oldest fry are dead and the tiniest fry are alive. isnt it ment to be the other way round? can someone please give me an answer to why they died so young? :byebye: :dunno:

Welcome to the forums!

first of all are the fry in a breeder net or are they swiming with the adult mollies?

if they are swimign with the adult mollies then most likely they got eaten ... but if thye were in a breeder trap ...that eraly dont make any kidn of sence were they missing or were they floating belly up dead? u need to be more specific when u ask about a problem

Bea, were they in the net or plastic breeder with a lot of uneaten food? Sometimes it is really hard to keep their space clean as there are so many of them and you are supposed to feed so often. Perhaps there is a problem with the oxygen levels, my plastic breeder really didn't have very good circulation and if I had loads of fry in it I worried that their wasn't enough oxygen... Just some thoughts.

My molly fry were in a large 5 way breeder trap with no seperating grid in it. I i used fry liquid food from my local pet shop and i after 10 or 15 minuted of eating i emptyd out the plastic contraption. It could have been the younger fry because i never had time to take the bodys out and i went to a concertfor a few hours and when i came home the bodies were gone. and i have just bought a new power filter for my tank and the water ph levels are fine. so relly dont know how they died :(

yeh theyre fine.....but theyre hungry little things even though i feed them 3 times a day....sometimes more.
