Buying Fish On-Line - Safe?

Nothing puts my off a fish shop more than dirty tanks and sick fish!

To be honest their tanks aren't dirty, their water is crystal clear but their fish just never catch me as looking in great condition. Always a dead fish some where, and the fish are slow and lethargic looking. They don't' stock any of your typical (common) tropical fish, everything is either huge or not my taste and their tanks are just completely bare, they used to have sand etc in them but not anymore. Its quite depressing looking.

just household ammonia, looks like this :)

Maybe they don't have it listed on their website, may just be an in-store thing

Excellent thank you, its always so much easier if you can visualise what your trying to find. I wonder if B&Q have any, thats closer to me and I could run out tonight and get some?

Okay dokey, off to homebase on a treasure hunt. Oh, and the woman has come back to say she'll not clean the filter for me :D

At thebtop of the page there's a button called calculator.Scroll down and there's a tool for working it out :)

That's brilliant I'll do that. Thanks.

I've just been to MA in Coatbridge. Wow some stunning fish in there! I didn't see my endlers I was hoping they'd have and i got caught up in my sons excitement of looking at all the fish and forgot to ask. I can always call and ask of they will be getting them in or could order them in for me once I know my tank is cycled. It's only twenty minutes away so it's really handy.

Pick my new tank up tonight at 6. The person taking the fish couldn't pick them up until this afternoon.

Hi guys and girls,

I got my tank!! :hyper: . Here it is, what do you think?

So I calculated the ammonia using the caluclator at the top of the page to achieve 3ppm, measured it out, added it and got 4ppm  so I am hoping it wont damage anything and tomorrow (assuming the filters processed the ammonia) I will add a little less ammonia. :good:

Looks great :) looks like an interpet fishpod, i used to have one, nice little tanks! Na the ammonia won't have hurt anything and with a bit of luck you'll be fully cycled!

Yeah its an interpret fish box I believe (it has fish box written on the top). Its a nice wee tank, I am really pleased with it. It came with everything in the tank (except the sand), stand, huge tub of food, and other stuff like tapsafe, and a bio filter booster (don't intend on using that though) and things like that so I'm very pleased.

Can anyone tell me what kind of plant is in the tank and can I plant it straight into the sand? It came still in its little pot.

Alm0stAwesome - If you used to have one of these amyeb you can answer a question of mine. The white light on the tank is temperamental, comes on some times and not others. The blue light comes on first time. Now, if i buy a new bulb and it doesn't work can I swap the blue light for a white light bulb? I really like the blue light but the white light is obviously more essential.
