Burping filter?

Hi folks,

I have an HOB filter that actually hangs inside our 30 gal tank (our tank is in a bookshelf with no room for anything external). Since it arrived, it’s been occasionally ‘burping’ - it makes a belching noise and spews small amounts of detritus into the tank. I used to be able to fix it by reseating the filter pack, but that’s no longer working. I do swish the filter around in changing tank water about weekly. Any idea what’s causing this?

Do you know what brand of HOB it is?
Could anything block the water intake pipe/slots occasionally?
Could you post a photo showing the filter in the tank?

From your description it sounds like debris works its way past the coarse filtration and slowly blocks flow in the chamber. When the pressure builds up and debris gets ejected from the chamber you have this belching noise.
I'm not familiar with this particular HOB, mine are Seachem. Hope other members could help.
