Building another new tank....

Yeah..if it weren't for having to tear the tank down and start over again..I would yank it out of there asap..but well..I don't want to stress my fish out (especially my neons..they can barely tolerate water changes lol).

Here's what it looks like btw

(how you like that Pooh Bear colored paint...)

Heee, it looks like my bedroom here at my grandmother's :D Very cheerful, but hardly conducive to sleeping, I've found ;)

That looks brighter than the gravel I saw, but that's likely because of the flash. Thanks for letting me know; now I'm super happy with my substrate, heehee, no matter how tricky it might be to clean.

probably is the flash..look at the towel the tank is on..it's not "that' bright lmao.

Here a little better pic.

Aww, cute widdle cory

Okay, then, that's not the gravel I saw; what I saw had a much smaller grain, and was darker than that. Yours is actually really pretty, IMO, but I know what a pain those little 'floaters' can be- I finally ditched my yucky old purple and turquoise junk because it never stopped giving off little bits that my boys would try to swallow. My bettas have all had bare-bottomed tanks with weighted/suctioned plants for the past two years now; my girls' tank was the first one with a substrate ever since Simeon tried to munch on yet another little purple 'flake' :grr:

Sigh... I have ideas like that too, unfourtunately I have a highly creative brain but all the artistic skills of a bag of colourblind hedgehogs, where the easel and paintbrush are outside the bag and the paints are somewhere highly dangerous and have a price tag of 'Priceless' on them... Which, in English, translates as I can't draw, paint or anything similar to save my life. Nice though, can't you buy natural gravel at garden centres?

OMG that just cracked me up so bad..I started laughing uncontrollably lmao. actually I am still laughing about it right now lol.

I hadn't though of that..looking at a garden center...I think I wll make a pit stop by Lowe's on my way home THANKS. :D

All I have to say is...OHFEESHY ROCKS!!!!!

I stopped by Lowe's and picked up a bag of small grain pea gravel for $2.97 a bag. And 1 bag weighs about 20lbs.

So instead of $40 (which would include 4 bags of gravel @ $4 each, plus shipping) I paid $3.50 ( well ok $11..but I bought 2 eucapliptus (yikes spelling) trees too lol).

Thank you :shifty: Although we all knew it all along :p I just figured that it would be a lot cheaper since people want a heck of a lot more than a small bag for a small fish tank. And they'd do more of a variety of sizes, colours etc. Hey, now you can use the money you saved on more bettas!! Yeeey!

Yes..those clear pots did come from teh craft section at Wallie World. They also have the cobalt blue ones as well. They are like .40 cents each.

Just for the sake of posting this....here is the painted furniture project I am working on http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=104334 lol my thumb hurts so bad from holding a paint brush for hours ( from painting "stones") last nite..it's not even funny .

GAH only one more hour til i go home..I AM SO FREAKING BORED

Well I would like to report that the styrofoam pieces I made are fish safe, so it seems.

Yesterday I put one of the caves I've made in one of my 2.5 gallon tanks, put new treated water in it, and let it sit over night. Then today I went and bought a "test" subject...I couldn't bare to try it on one of my others...I'm too attached to them, and if it'd killed one..I would have felt even worse if it had of killed the test fish. (even though I still woudl have felt bad if anything had died)

Well the new betta (which is a lovely orange plakat female btw..I'll post pics of her Monday once I bring my camera back home lol) has been in the tank for several hours now...and is enjoying her new home....complete with her own little cave. With no adverse or strange reactions.

Now if I can just get the plexiglass in, and get the background finished (can't do that until I build the tank..so I am certain it fits tightly..don't want any trapped fishes in crevices)...I will be ready to transer over the girls (after it cycles).

WOOT! :D
