WOW! My hubby would kill me if I spent that kind of money on my fish tank!

lol good thing I'm not married..or I might be divorced. Men like to go to football games, drink beer, and buy car parts/tools. Techincally they spend just as much on trival BS...if I had one he could kiss my *** if he tried to say I was wasting money

I don't quite get why you are doing the cave and wall background - seems like the thickness of the foam would reduce the area of each cubicle for swimming area by quite a bit! If the tank has 6 cubicles that means they are each 5" X 10.5" x 10"? in size before adding the grass, caves and background - right? That just seems awfully small when it's finished, IMHO.

Not sure what you mean by grass...this tank will have a gravel bottom.
Since this tank will have clear dividers (so that it retains a more natural appearance) the caves are to give each girl a place to "escape" and have some private time if she needs it...so she does not have to constantly stare at her sisters or have them constantly staring at her.
The background is to simulate a more natural environment. The aquarium will be build around those pieces, each section will give each fish a section of tank that is 4.3"wide x 10.5"tall x 11" deep...giving each fish a section comparable to approx. 2 gallons each. It's not huge but it's not small by any means. It's basicaly a 2.5 gallon tank turned sideways.

Also, is the back area used only for the filters and the heater? How does the water and heat get through? Looks like the whole tank is assembled with plexiglass and I don't see how the cubicles get water flow or heat to them. How deep is the back area? It appears to be about 3" from the drawing you gave.

Yes, the back section is 3" deep.
That area is simply to cut down the filter current, since there will be two 20 gallon filters running the tank. Most bettas do not enjoy a stronge current and with 6 fish in the tank I will keep it turned up on high (just like I do in my divided 22 gallon) , to filter as much water and possible..so it stays cleaner longer.
If you looked through the pictures you certainly saw the one with all the holes in the back ground. Each stall for each fish has a row of "holes" in the background. This is where the water and heat is filtered in/out.

I'm about to divide a standard 10 gallon glass tank into 3 partitions for my bettas. My one male betta (Midnight) is presently housed in a 13 gallon hex with 2 African Dwarf frogs and a floating lettuce type plant. He seems to LOVE his big tank. Midnight makes bubblenests around the floating thermometer.

Your fish will love it and be just as happy as if they were in a 10gal each. some bettas actually do not like that much space...several members here have stated that having their betta alone ina 10 gal was actually stressful on them.
I currently have a 22 gallon divided tank housing 8 bettas. It is set up identicle to the tank I am making for the girls, with the exception of the foam background.
They all are happy and healthy and make bubble nests all around the top section of their stalls.
