Building a Betta Room

It’s coming along nicely. At a stopping point now until hubby can build my wall shelf. He promises within a couple of weeks. I guess I have to let him work on his car since he helped me all weekend. View attachment 97627View attachment 97628View attachment 97629View attachment 97630
Here’s one more of the car too. I’m sure you guys would rather see it.

First tank in...the shrimp tank. Yes, I said shrimp tank. I give up! I caught all of the shrimp. Today, I took over 100 rcs to my lfs. Christina (owner) was so excited and asked if I wanted to supply her with shrimp as she had trouble keeping them in stock. I explained I was breaking my tank down but would let her know if I decided to start up again. I came home and began breaking the tank down. I noticed 4 tiny shrimp in the back wall. What? They must not be developing and hiding in the gravel. I sucked them up in a turkey baster and placed them in a glass. As I started taking out decor, a huge red shrimp went buy. Where’d she come from? She’s berried. Then I found the male. So that’s how those other babies got there! She’s had time to drop babies and already be berried again. Found 2 more babies! So, I now still have a shrimp tank that will live with the bettas in their new room. Currently have 6 shrimpettes, a berried mama and a daddy. Oh, boy. Here we go again! At least she’s a fire red one. They’re my first tank in the new fish room. (Pic enclosed). QUESTION: My community tank will remain in the den but will be moved about 12 feet to another location. It will come off

the bar and go onto a stand. Do I have to catch all of those fish to move it and empty everything just to go 12 feet???

The big question is how big and heavy is the tank? A 10 gallon tank full of water equals about 80 pounds. 1 gallon =8 pounds give or take a few ounces. If too heavy you may hurt yourself or damage the tank :( I have moved 10 gallon tanks by reducing the water.

It’s a 20 long. I was hoping to remove all decor and lower water down to about 2 inches from bottom. Leave sand in. Hubbie would help. Do I need to break it completely down?

You need to lower the water to 20% because it might damage you and your tanks. I tried with full water before and the tanks break :(

So all of your tank filter is sponge? I have a bad story about mine....

Only in my betta tanks. My others are HOB’s. What happened with yours? I know it got stinky.
Its always "creating" more dust in the tank, it seems like the dust come out of the sponges....and last time gecko fell in to sponge filter and died o_O

I hate cockroaches too. I scream and run the other way.

Moving day today for the community fish tank. Decided to put it in the “Betta Room” too which is now the “Fish Room” since shrimp and community ended up there too. Wish me luck as I catch all of these suckers. Especially one big danio!
