Hi Guys.

I'm attempting to build a background for a future tank. :)

Hmmm..do you think this would work?

I'm following no plans or anything like that...just what's in my head at moment, not really sure what to do next.....

What would it eventually be coated in? Could it be easily removed? Etc...

Ps..Pics aren't the best, had to use Acer Orbicam as Bluetooth is playing up. :S

Yeah I'm about to do the same thing. I'm going to cover mine in cement and leave it to cure for a month.

cement and pont paint would work well! Leaving it to cure doesnt always work, the lime and other things can usually redically effect the water PH. BUT if you pondpaint over it, you can get pond sealent specifically for cement. You can also colour cement easily easpecially if your sealing it afterwards. Not sure, but think the old, certain spices method would work for certain colours, tumeric, paprika etc, if your sealing it with a few coats this would probably be fine. Mix a mini bit of cement and test the colour. You can also mix some poly fragments in like you would gravel in concrete, this would mean you can lay a little thicker to make those rounded gradients from platform to colum.

I would just use small balls of silicone to seal the lot into the tank, then if/when you want it out you could snap the poly out and just be left with fragments on round blobs of silicone so you could carefully knife of like removing jewel filters.
