Bubble Coral Sweeper Tentacles?

At night, my bubble coral's bubbles turn into short little "tentacle"-like things, and since they werent long, I just assumed that it didnt feel like it needed to defend territory because they didnt look like sweeper tentacles to me. The closest coral is 4 inches away, and the bubble coral is still pretty small, so it probably doesnt think it has to compete for space.

Right now, it looks exactly like there are two shrimp antennae sticking out of the mouth, but both of my shrimp are fine and have all their tentacles, so I know it didnt try to eat one or anything wierd like that. All the bubbles are out on the coral as well.

My question is, could these be sweeper tentacles? Or what could they be, because they dont look like tentacles to me and they are very straight and dont sway. Plus, the lights have been on for 2 hours already.

I would say they are sweeper tenticles. Even though they dont seem that long now, they can easilyt reach 6-8 inches even in a small bubble coral.

I know that they can be 3 times or nore longer than the coral itself, but they look like shrimp antennae and not like tentacles at all. Later that day, they just kept drooping down until they were laying on the bottom.

hmmm wierd. is it possibly the left off of a shrimp skin that is stuck to the coral ?

Thats what I was thinking when I first saw it, but I couldnt see the rest of the skin at all, and also thought it was odd that only two of the tentacles/antennae were visible.

i have a bubble & have observed the same thing. those pointy tenticles are its feeders. i always see them right after feeding & occasionally when the lights are out.

Really? They actually looked like shrimp antennae? Thats a relief.

Bubble corals are pretty good for a beginner if youre willing to invest in the correct lighting. They dont like too strong of flow, and need to be fed. I feed mine about every 3 days.

i got 192 watts in my 38 gal tank, is that enough?

Depends on the type of lighting a little. I am no expert on lighting for bubble corals, but I have had mine on the bottom of a 22 inch tall [75 gallon] tank for about 3 months now with 2 65 watt actinics, and 2 65 watt power compact fluorescents and it acts normal, looks great, and feeds normally, so im thinking its doing well.
