Hi my heater in my 16 gal tank broke tonight it was 200 watt, the only spare I had was a 50 watt which I have put in the tank hoping it will do the trick until I can get one tomorrow please can anyone advise what make I should get as my heater was very old and as there are many brands on the market I am confused as what to buy I want a good brand that has a thermastat control.

My most recent heater purchase was an Eheim Jager heater.

Something you should consider is getting two lower power heaters instead of one large one. For instance, buy two 100 watt heaters, rather than a new 200 watt one. This will not only mean that, in the case one breaks, you still have something running, but that you can distribute heat better in your tank.

50W is fine for a 16G.

Thank you for your advice, the 50 watt seems to be doing the job but I will buy another as back up. Many thanks.
