High, I'm a noob at all this and was wondering the growth rate of bristlenosed catfish (my LFS has some really cute ones that would be pushed to be an inch long) wondering if i should get one of these or a larger one (but they are really cute :*) )

wow and inch thats tiny! they seem to grow pretty slowly. i have had mine for a while and shes about 2.5 inches. i cant remember how big she was when i got her though.
how big is the tank you are wanting to put one in?

it depends on their feeding and their tank mates.

We have lots of bristle nose fry and thier growth rates depend on what tank they are in...

we move them as they get bigger, moving up in tank sizes and thinning out the number of them

If you feed well and dont have a lot of stock (eg bottom feeders that will compete for the food) then the 1" BN should be about 3" after 3months. slowing down until they reach about 5" after 8months.

I purchased my original 4 at about 1 inches. About 8 months later, they started to breed. Some hit 2.5 inches, while others were at around 2 inches. I did nothing special in this case to accelerate their growth - typical dry food plus once or twice a week of vegetables...

Once they hit around 2.5 inches, the growth do slow down significantly though...

I had my two Bristlenoses about 3 months ago when they were about an inch long. Now one of them is touching 3 incles while the other is a little smaller at about 2.5 inches.

I've noticed (in general) that I tend to under-quote size of the fishes... I just went and measured one of the bristlenose I have (while it was on the glass) and it was actually 3.5 inches... Visually, I would have quoted it as 2.5 to 3 inches so obviously I s*ck in guessing sizes...

Still, you've done a nice job raising them quickly...
