Im going to be getting a bristlenose pleco soon, and was wondering if it would be ok to leave him for 1 day with my Goldfish/Koi fry in the 6 gallon tank.

I thought he could sort the algae problem a bit for me... I would only leave him in there for 1 day, then put him in my bigger tank.

Would he eat the fry as a desert?

nope - they should be fine...

what temp is the tank at?
It averages at about 25C sometimes goes up to 30, and down to 20.
Also mate... Do you think i can get a bristlenose for my tank now? Its been running near 3 weeks, and i would think is near enough cycled, 0 Ammonia, 0.3 or lower Nitrite level.

Ph is about 8 maybe a bit lower.

Edit: oh yeh, there is nitrate n all in the tank, and what looks to be algae, but not the green stuff, which is apsolute everywhere in my fry tank.

our female went into our tank after about 3 weeks and was fine. if you can i'd wait till the nitrite is 0 as that what he'll be coming from and it might be a bit of a nasty shock to his system.

it might be an idea to add a heater to the tank to keep the temp stable over night. they are tropical after all.

if your getting a small one - 1" ish - he'll need a few weeks to make a difference in the tank.

My bristlenose went in after 4 weeks, then at 5 1/2 weeks I put in 6 mollies and unfortunately also had a population explosion as my guppies had babies. My nitrite levels went up as high as 0.25 for two days then 0.5 for 4 days dispite many water changes then then continued at 0.25 for 5 more days (still more water changes) until they stabilized at 0. My beautiful bristlenose Harry survived through it all I am really pleased to say and does a lovely job on my tank. My temperature was a constant 78/79 and my PH went down during that same period of cycling from 7.8 to 7.2

Hope this helps - enjoy you bristlenose, they can be really funny lol

edit: P.S. I must add that my nitrite was 0 when I introduced him to the tank. I would not suggest getting one until you are at 0. If it rises afterwards he gets used to it slowly but to introduce him to 0.3 reading will not be good for him or any fish.

Thanks, i really do need/want to buy a heater, but at the moment i dont think it is really a MUST because the temperature in the 20gal hasnt dropped below 24C.

Also i think that by sunday or next week my nitrites will be down to 0, theyve been coming down all week now.
