bristlenose catfish

It would be nice if there are species of loaches that can eat snails while does not go after small bristlenose fry... Out of all loaches, I like clowns the best, but as mentioned already, I'm not sure if bristlenose fry are safe from them...

you mentioned feeding bristlenoses cucumber, should it be raw or cooked?

Raw is good. If you get those little plant weights the metal ones and attatch the slice of cucumber to it, it will sink so the bnoses can get it.

Actually, what I do to all vegetables is that when they are fresh, I cut them into slices, store them in a zip bag and freeze them.

When I need to feed them, I take few slices out, put them in a cup of hot tap water until they melt. Usually, the slices will sink by the time they melt completely.

It is handy to have various different vegetables in different bags, ready to feed whenever I want to... ;)

Do you need a tunnel for them to breed because i dont have one and i would like to breed them? but it seems like the male really couldnt care. Mabye becuase the female is bigger then hjim?

One of my female is larger than the male and there's no problem - gradually the male will overcome the size "problem" and become the most aggressive bristlenose in the tank.

You will need to provide cave(s) for them to spawn into. Easiest is PVC pipes with one end blocked. You can go with a pipe that is about twice the thickness of the thickest part of the pleco (which is usually the mouth)... You can put a rock on top of it to secure its position, if you like.

yeah i just havnt had the chance to put a cave in for them. I work in a pet shop for over 20 hours a week and i also have school. so i barley have time to do water changes.

Yhbae - our ladders are fine with the fry.

they dont eat all the snails but they do keep their numbers very low :)

we have 2 and they are really lively (if a little shy)

Just noticed our breeding male is out and about.... that'll explain the 30 or so more fry!!

as for tubes... ours are 35mm in diameter and they seem to like it :D
